My love for sport started from a young age and my time at primary school played a big part in that. I always enjoyed my PE lessons and the extra curricular activities offered at lunchtime and after school meant I was able to continue to stay active, make friends and improve in the sports I liked outside of lessons.
Ashby C of E gave me a great platform to try a variety of sports and find something I really enjoyed and could excel in. The school gave me my first experience of competitive football playing for the school team in various competions, alongside my peers, many who are still lifelong friends.
Thanks to the opportunites offered to me throughtout my school life I have continued to pursue my passion, studying sport, PE and coaching at University, running my own business delivering sport and physical activity in shcools as well as playing professional football currently for Brackley Town FC.
I have really fond memories of my time at Ashby C of E. It felt like every teacher, class room assistant and member of support staff wanted everyone to suceed. They supported me and helped with my diabetes so that I never missed a school trip or activity and I always felt included. I'm now working as a Police Officer, and if it wasnt for the encouragment that I had at such a young age to 'not let my diabetes' hold me back I'm not sure I'd be in my current job.
I Attended Ashby C of E Primary School for Years 5 and 6, from 2006 to 2008. Afterwards I moved on with my classmates to Ivanhoe College, followed by Ashby Schoool and finally Cambridge University. I now work for a small organisation which provides advice and support for people aiming to pursue socially impactful careers.
During my time at Burton Road I was fortunate to feel very encouraged by the school academically. But I particularly valued the days and weeks when we were immerrsed in special activities such as designing wartime food items complete with their own jingles (I still know all the words to 'roll-up, meaty roll-up' to the tune of the Flinstones.
I had a lot of fun on residential trips to Bude and London, these were early opportunities for me to gain independence, which probably helped with the transition to secondary school.
I'd like to send my regards to everyone at the school and wish everyone the best for the future.
