”The final framing of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” - Anne Frank
At Ashby Church of England Primary School we believe PSHE is crucial to a child’s education. We see every child as a whole person and aim to develop their overall holistic health – socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually. Our programme of study is designed to equip our children with the skills to thrive under the pressures and demands they may face and how best to navigate the challenges of a diverse modern world.
Our PSHE curriculum has been specifically tailored to explore core concepts within a supportive, nurturing environment. It has been coherently and inclusively planned to equip our children for the real world. We hope to help develop emotionally mature human beings that flourish in later life through the decisions, responsibilities, experiences and opportunities adulthood brings. To broaden our children’s experiences, we give our pupils ambitious opportunities through big ideas and conversations alongside practical skills.
Our PSHE curriculum is planned and delivered to ignite key character skills, including creativity, critical thinking, self-esteem, resilience, informed risk-taking, self-regulation, gratitude, and empathy. We teach these skills intertwined with knowledge about the world, which will ensure that our children go on to be independent, inquisitive citizens of the world.
PSHE makes a significant contribution to fulfilling our school’s vision so our pupils can become the very best version of themselves.
