“Differences are not intended to separate, to alienate. We are different precisely in order to realize our need of one another.” - Desmond Tutu
At Ashby Church of England Primary School, our Religious Education curriculum aims to ensure that the children we teach are equipped with a secure knowledge and understanding of Christianity and a range of religions, worldviews and values represented within our community and Great Britain. We endeavour to enable our children to flourish as citizens in a pluralistic and global community. We want to ensure that our children are able to understand and explore their own beliefs and those of others in an ever-changing, diverse world. Our curriculum seeks to develop pupils’ knowledge, behaviours and skills and, as their cultural capital matures, enable them to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious issues.
‘RE is like the Tardis. Despite the small space it occupies in the curriculum, it is huge, encompassing nothing less than humanity’s most searching questions, its deepest hopes, the history of the world’s beliefs and their diverse manifestation in the modern world.’ NATRE 2022.
